Having not been in a city for a while, Kuala Lumpur (or KL as it is imaginatively called) was a bit of a surprise, as it's so modern and full of Western sights - Quite exciting to see Topshop again though! We were lucky to get a room in a small guesthouse which was really homely and relaxed. After a spot of shopping (how could we resist the shopping centres after so long?) we had our 5th Indian meal in 6 nights. This may seem like overkill, but somehow no matter how much you think you don't want it, by dinner time you do. And it's soooo cheap compared to at home!
Wednesday morning we headed straight to the Petronas Towers to get free tickets to go up in the lift to the bridge between the two towers. Before you go up, they show a film complete with 3D glasses (see lovely photo) which was hilarious as it was a shameless plug for Petronas, basically portraying them as the best company in the world. After this we went up to the bridge, which gave a good view, though it's actually only about halfway up the towers, and you only get a few minutes to take a look.
We got a better view from our next stop, KL tower, where you can walk all around and see lots of the sights. The rest of the day was spent doing lots of walking and seeing many sights such as Masjid Jemek, Central Market, Chinatown and Merdeka Square.
Thursday was spent much the same way, as we visited the National Museum, National Mosque, Old Railway Station, and went for (another) Indian meal. Good times.
Next stop....Melaka.
