Captains log 29/06/13 Lucerne ! I wake after my first trip to a beer hall with a thumping headache, and a wake up call from Beau. He is very pleased to hear that my head is seconds away from blowing up and we have a good chat. After lots of proding from Bella I rolled out of bed, had a shower and went down for breakfast. I made a bacon sandwich a tried and tested meal for the cloudy mind. It was decent, we get on the bus and head off for our drive up to Switzerland and hopefully my first encounter with snow!!!! First we need to deal with my head, which is now getting really bad. I tried to sleep on the coach and Bella was stroking my head. We got into Liechtenstein, a small principality just on the Swiss boarder, for a bit of lunch and to get a stamp. This is a cool little place and its nice to know if you turn 18 here you get an invite from the prince and he has a huge party for you and the whole village in the palace, that seems nice! Liz took us to a place and claimed they did one of the worlds best chicken schnitzel sandwich, seeing as I think I'm quite the expert on this subject, having eaten many in my time I couldn't pass up on it. We were let down, it may have been because I wasn't feel great but the sandwich was average at best, and I couldn't finish the local beer because I didn't feel good, but Bella got tagged in to help me out. After lunch we went into the small souvenir shop next door, and brought some of the princes wine, that is never exported so you can only get it in town, and a present for Aston. Back on the bus and we cross the boarder to Switzerland. This is where s*** gets real. " I hate these filthy neutrals Kif, with enemy's you know where you stand, but with neutrals who knows", sorry couldn't help but quote furtrama. So the Swiss are crazy neutral but also crazy scared that one day they will be invaded, so there ready. Every male between 18-30 needs to do atleast 2 weeks of military service per year, and they can call up a huge army within hours, every household has a full military kit in it and a bomb shelter. If that isn't crazy enough they have the mountains around the boarder rigged with explosives so if they think there going to get invaded they can cause huge landslides at incoming enemy's, blow up all the tunnels that enter Switzerland.... And on the odd case you get in, the freeways have giant anti tank walls built into them, so with a press of a button a gigantic concrete wall lifts out of the ground to slow down advances. There crazy! We get into town and go into the Swiss Army knife and watch shop, it was nice but the watches were out of control, I'll just wait for my Rolex :)! We left and started the walk to our hotel room, it's in the center of town so the bus can't get though the little roads. It's called the jail, and well it's a bloody jail. It was an operating jail 15 years ago and now it's a budget hotel. This is pretty loose. Many people on tour are whinging by this but I'm not really bothered. We have a "suite" which is really just the old extra security rooms with double doors... Kinda cool. The rooms are very small and can just fit the double bed in. Oh well how often do you send a night in a jail cell and get a double bed :)! We settled in and went for a walk around town. It's the Lucrene festival, which Liz tells us she has never been too, so fireworks and street party! I'm still feeling average and Bella's not that great either but we try push though it. We walk around the massive lake though all the shop venders and find ourself a dirty Mexican food truck. This is what we need! Switzerland is the first place were we have see So many different types of food not just local. Bella gets nachos and I get chili con cane, it was awesome. Remember kids when in Switzerland eat Mexican! We go back to the jail and meet up with some guys and go next door for some old school bowling, and I mean old school, only 9 pins, 50 year bowling balls and no gutters. It was fun though. We found out that Elliott is very competitive and was trying so hard to beat me, he did when I choked the last bowl and only got a 4, I lost by 3. Sigh! We then played a few games of pool and some basketball. 'twas good fun. We went and had dinner. It was so bad, like the worst we have ever had. Salad. Cold chicken breast with rice and peas and Swiss ice cream. I didn't touch it. At this point everyone went to go see the fireworks but Bella and I didn't feel great so we had a quite night and went to bed nice an early. I get to see snow tomorrow!!!!'
P.s photo from the next day lunch! But the sad lion wins that day!
