Captains log 05/07/13 Belgium! This will be a small blog because we are fat and lazy and didn't do much! Ok so we got up early and had breakfast with Elliott and Talia and to say goodbye! :( I had 2 minute noodles, because I'm strange like that, it was ok! Bella had waffles, she's a piggy for waffles :o! We said goodbyes with cuddles and smiles and started our long painful journey to the train station. Suitcases and all! The bus drops us right out the station so that's good however we are now on our own! Left to our own demise, no wifi, no phone, it's time to get our tourist on. We find our train and start the push and shove to get in there, find a place for our suitcases and then constantly stress about looking at them and making sure there safe. The trains are very nice however slightly stressful lucky enough we have grown a custom to them now an to not so much of a hassle! We get off at one stop and get on our transfer, same thing bump and grind though the masses of crazy travels, throwing my suitcase up 5 stairs to Bella, her case goes next. We ha to stand on this train for the first 30 minutes but soon enough we got a seat. It's all good! We get off at Brussels central, feeling good about ourselves and almost proud for making our first trip unscathed we pull out the photos of maps on our phones and head out to find our hotel. s***..... There's limited street signs, everyone speaks French it's a real stress fest. Ok, after relooking at our notes we notice the word nord on the station. Crap, we've gotten off at the wrong station. So we head back, Bella being her usual helpfulness and making needless and confused statements I set off to find out how to get to nord why I leave her in a corner protecting the bags. Ok so we need to go down 3 sets of stairs to a random train and get on it. When I say random, I mean it. This thing was covered head to toe, inside and outside with graffiti and damage. We were the only ones on it. Great! I think to myself, as I'm pretty sure were going to loose a kidney! Lucky for us it lasted about 2 minutes and we were there. From then on to get to the hotel was a small 10 minute walk. The hotel is in a good location and the staff are very friendly. One of the craziest things in it was the elevator. This beast is old school. The elevator has 2 doors, you can leave from the front or the side, but apart from that only has 1 wall. It's a hexagon shape, and the 3 sides are the inside wall of the hotel, completely open. As you go up, the sides of the walls go down. It's crazy! I'm kinda disappointed we didn't take a photo of it, oh well. Our room is nice, it's big, clean, double bed, nice bathroom, and English Channel on the tv. Ok it's time to just relax and put the feet up. After a few how's of whoring the hotels amazing Internet and Bella sleeping it was 4pm and we were both hungry, we went for a walk into town to find some food. We found a steakhouse, and had some really nice BBQ ribs, were bad people. We washed it down with one of the many local beers! And I realise that no matter what I'm not going to be able to try one of each local beer. :(! Belgium has over 1200 different types of beers, it's insane! Oh well, you win some you loose some. We went back to the hotel, ordered a few drinks from the insanely cheap hotel bar and had a early night! I streamed lol on my phone and Bella snored the night away! Relaxing tomorrow! Life's good :)
