And so the journey begins... With probably the biggest challenge first: 36 hours of travelling, with Olivia, on our lap. And what a start indeed: after 1 hour of flying Hanne found out the hard way that you should NEVER use non-Pampers diapers. Olivia had warned us upfront by saying "pipi" but we didnt realise she meant "pipi is coming out of diaper onto mama". Luckily we had spare clothes for Olivia... Not for Hanne though. Only 35 more hours to go, smelling "different". Hopefully our seats for the next flight are not next to each other!!
Arrived at London Heathrow for challenge number 2. First flight had a delay so a bit of extra stress and then comes a new security check. Somehow what was checked in Brussels needs to be re-checked. Probably because the babyfood is more lethal when flying ex-London than when flying ex-Brussels. And there came the challenge. I needed to drink either from the babybottle with water from the previous flight or a carton "brick" of baby-soup that needs to be thrown away once opened (yes, I could choose). And on top, I had to drink either 1 of 2 baby-Alpro cartons or a carton of baby-milk. All three to be thrown away once opened. I leave it to the intelligent in the room to guess how I solved it without losing any fluid we had bought for Olivia.
After quite some running to board on time, we arrived just on time to find yet another delayed flight. All the delays did give Olivia the opportunity to write her first song called "Mama Vliegtuig". It goes like this (all rights reserved): "mama vliegtuig, mama vliegtuig, mama vliegtuig, mama vliegtuig, mama vliegtuig, mama vliegtuig". Hanne is super proud.
A quick stop at Singapore airport and off we go again. I think we slept about two hours and as it turns out, won't add any on our way to Sydney.
Now waiting for the flight to Darwin and then the fun can begin, starting with relaxing at the pool I think.
Hello Darwin! 32 degrees and sunny. Our holidays begin right now!
Just finished the day with a quick pizza and a nice walk on the Esplanade of Darwin. Very nice area: green, nice running/walking paths and right next to the water but with a significant cliff down first. Feels very American with all these people running. If my body allows me, I will be running here tomorrow. Should be my first of 30 runs that I want to do these 3 months. Dreaming never hurt anyone.
To close: tomorrow we take a slow day in Darwin, chillaxing a bit. The day after we start our first motorhome trip.
Ciao!

Caroline Let me guess: you did not open the cartons with smelly Alpro milk but just faked drinking? Oh no...even better: you kissed the security lady and told her she has the most beautiful boobies ever ;-)? Something like that?!
belgica2004 Was a security guy... Could have commented on his man boobies but that wouldnt have helped, I think :-) both are wrong!
dirk hmmm... what is Alpro ?
jef beter "mama vliegtuig" dan "mama jumbojet" - ook al zit er muzikaal meer potentieel in dat laatste
lutgarde Of you don't wanna get in trouble, stat loyal to p&g!!!
belgica2004 P&G, wat is dat ook alweer? :-)
