Paris, France
Day 1
Pete and I both met up in Paris. Pete's flight arrived at 6:30am so he was waiting in the airport for 6 hours before my plane arrived - he was bloody tired as you can imagine! We made the way to the hotel and then jumped onto the train into Paris. It is such an amazing city - I am blown away each time I visit here. First stop - Notre Dame. Pretty amazing and it was a clear spring night so the walk along the Seine was magic.
We headed down a few small, narrow streets and came across a little restaurant which looked interesting. It had a Greek, Spanish and French theme...probably not the best choice for the first dinner in Paris but it was an experience!
After dinner, we headed to the pub for a few Kroenbourgs. We avoided the Irish pubs...just didn't feel right in Paris! We met a couple of aussies at the pub and I love it how when you strike up the conversation you feel like you have heaps in common (even though it's usually just that we're from the same country!). We got back to the hotel around 10pm and crashed.
Day 2
The next day we headed back into Paris and explored the food markets in Rue Mouffetard. We had a gourmet lunch of chicken, cheese and baguette...bloody delicious! Then it was off to the airport to pick up the car. We eventually made it back to the hotel in one piece. A little hairy getting out of the airport but Pete did a sterling job...just needed to the hang of the left-hand drive! Tomorrow it's off to Caen as we prepared to visit the D-Day beaches...
