right a lot to catch up on.
i travelled from Monteverde in the north of costa Rica to panama city in one go. yes i am hardcore, it took in all about 22 hours. it should have taken about 18, but the tyre blew up at about 3am, and bless the driver he changed it all by himself. in the uk, the driver would,ve called for backup and gone to sleep. so very impressed.
once in panana city , at last, i was on the search to get tickets to the San Blas islands, where the Kuna people live. i succeeded and left the very next morning. the islands are anazing, so beautiful, proper untouched beauty in the carribean sea. there are about 400 islands in all - most of then unpopulated. the island i stayed on had about 200 inhabitanys all living in mud thatched huts. the Kuna women wear bead bracelets all up their arms and legs and dress in tradional style, the men however wear whatever they can get there hands on, usually hawaian shirts and boars shorts, very amusing. i prefer the tradional fdress!!
each day we would go in the boat to a surrounding island for the day and generally sunbathe, snorkel, eat and repeat till the boat picks you up. super.
i stayed fopr 4 days and came back today to panama city. but what an adventure. as we stopped off on a small island on the way back to pick up some goods for the mainland, the bloomin plane broke (the plane only seats 10!) as in the engine failed!!! yippeee. so we were then left on an island only as big as a landing strip with palm trees for company, oh and a toilet. by toilet i mean a wooden shack over the water with a hole in a plank of wood. we ended up being there for 7 hours with no food or water. not fun, but then i can think of worse places to be stranded and i topped up my tan, and we all shared a granola bar that someone had in their hand luggage. yum. a rescue plane finbally came and i made it back sfae, job well done xxx
