Day Thirty
Waiting to leave for Hong Kong
Late up & we rushed around to pack. The maid had already knocked on the door to make sure that we were leaving. Eating my porridge extremely quickly & making the final checks to make sure I hadn't left any knickers lying around because I need then all. With everything stuffed in our bags we headed to reception to check out.
As we were just waiting around all day we thought we could just chill on the hostel sofas & watch movies all day. The first movie we watched was called Law Abiding Citizen & then we watched The Carriers, it was 4pm by this point so we went to the supermarket to buy some supplies for our 11 hour bus journey later. We managed to get some noodles, crisps, chocolate & some water.
As we got back from the shop the movie Awake was on so we ordered some lovely claypot rice meals & finished watching the movie with other travellers. The movie quickly ended so we then watched Men Who Stare At Goats. I have to admit that this has been our laziest day so far but the weather wasn't great so there wasn't too much for us to do anyways, we had pretty much covered most of Yangshuo.
We took our last few pictures on the rooftop of our hostel & then we headed to catch our coach. We arrived at the travel booking place only to find out that our bus was delayed by 30 minutes which we didn't mind as we just sat down & hung around. Eventually a girl came & took us to the bus station. We hung around the waiting area for the bus to arrive. The coach arrived & it was mega cramped. There were no seats only little beds & the beds were so small. They had nasty horrible blankets (mine was wet) so they got threw at the back, there was no way I was using that to sleep in! The coach had zero space for anything. I got out my sleeping bag & made myself as comfortable as I could.
We were off, the bus was extremely bumpy & how we were going to sleep over night was a mystery, is looked like it was going to be impossible. At least the stupid scruffy coach had mini televisions. They had put a Denzel Washington movie on but I weren't particularly interested so I lay there quietly wishing the time away as Andy watched the movie. The bus had stopped for a toilet break so Andy jumped off the bus & I had to tell him the end of the movie, it's typical!
Off the bus set again & the next movie was 300. We had all settled back down again & got stuck in to the movie. Next minute the bus screeched & the driver flung the coach's steering wheel to the left. Everyone in there little beds hurled & jerked forward, what the hell was going on? Better still, what had we hit? The bus driver immediately jumped off the bus & was frantically looking under his wheel. Oh no what's happened?!
The bus had been stopped a while & a few people where looking at the wheels but we didn't have a clue what was going on. We just lay in the beds & was waiting for something to happen. Then something did happen - the coach started going again, this time it wasn't driving very fast at all & that's when everyone realised the coach had a problem. Luckily there was a service station up ahead so the bus managed to make it there & that's when the fun began. The front wheel had been taken off & there was lots of banging around. We still hadn't been told what the problem was so we stayed on the bus & carried on watching the movie until the bloody thing went off. The film was at it's climax & all you could hear around the bus was sighs of frustration when the driver turned of the battery - I was slightly fuming with annoyance!
A couple of hours went by & before we knew it the clock showed 1am. It looked like we weren't going anywhere fast so we turned in for the night. Andy went to sleep pretty quickly but oh my word the snoring out of these people. Were they having a laugh? I was getting agitated by it so I put my headphones in & played some music really loud to see if I could drown out the noise & drift off to sleep - no success, the music was great but the lack of sleeping wasn't. I turned my phone on so I could play phone games & keep myself occupied.
Do these people really not know how to give it a rest. Between the smelly stinking feet & the snoring I had totally got frustrated & lost my temper. I jumped off my little bed because we were sleeping on the top bunks & on the way down I purposely stood on a mans leg that was hanging out in the aisle way - that'll teach him. I then proceeded to march up & down the tiny aisle way elbowing all the other snoring culprits - yeah they all deserved it!
No more snoring for a short while after my rampage so I snuggled back in my sleeping bag & shut my eyes pretty damn quick...... Someone please help me to get to sleep........
