Well we've reached Thailand now after some pretty quick and tiring travelling but it's AMAZING to be here!I love Thailand!
Before flying to Bangkok we stayed in Mumbai for a night. I was feeling so much better by then so we did some sightseeing, seeing the gateway to india and the famous five star taj mahal palace hotel. We also went to see a bollywood movie (Om Shanti Om) which was well good! Despite not understanding anything we were gripped for the whole 3 hours!
We flew from Mumbai to Bangkok on the 17th Nov and then just a few days later are now down on Ko Pha-nang island! Arriving in Bangkok was wicked! It seemed so developed and orderly after having been in India! The roads were so much tamer and the horn is used far less here! We stayed only one night just off the famous back packers Ko San road which was awesome! They were so many stalls just near us selling fresh fruit, the gorgeous thai pancakes, and so many good souvenir stalls! Ko San road is pretty crazy! Its rammed with travellers and looking down it you can just see neon light advertisment signs for the whole strip! We tried going to the Grand palace but actuallty got there too late and it shut! Oops! So we plan to do that when we get back. Things I love about Bangkok include the awesome illuminous pink taxis, the decked out tuk tuks, the pancake stalls, the lack os staring unlike India, the smells and the heat! We decided we would rather spend more time on the islands then hang around in Bangkok so less than 24 hour after arriving we were on the overnight bus down to suat thani heading for Ko pha-nang!
The bus on the way down was sooo good..it was air con with free food and drinks and reclining seats...felt so good after some of the Indian buses!:). Having been in India we are now on a trust no one basis so when people tried to help us to get out of the bus station and get a boat ticket, we sent them away as we thought they were trying to scam us! However, after waiting there for two hours and realising that a bus wasnt gonna come and that these people were genuine we got the bus to the pier. After about one hours sleep on the bus we then hopped on the ferry to Ko pha-nang! The boat trip over took about 2 hours and was amazing! The scenery was gorgeous and it was such good tanning weather! Hannah however got soo burnt it was hilarious! I had to restrain very hard from the jokes! We met an ausie on the boat who we then shared a taxi to the beach we wanted to stay at when we arrived.
We are staying in a place called hat rin and its where the world famous full moon parties happen! Its soo awesome here! we are staying in a little bungalow just up from the beach which has a gorgeous view of the sea and beach all for just about a pound fifty each! The town is literally on our doorstep too and has some really good shops restaurants, and bars! food is soo good here...I had bbq king prawns just now and they were sooo good! The beach near us is stunning...clear blue sea, white sand beach lined with palm trees and hammocks and also has swings into the sea and benches in the sea. We have been spending alot of time chilling on the beach and enjoying the good food and drinks...especially the fruit shakes! We took out mopeds with these candadian guys we met yesterday to explore the island. it was awesome! I loved it! We reached a beach further up north. However, on the way back I got a bit cocky and went maybe a little too fast and ended up crashing! Hannah was right behind me so also crashed to avoid me! We skidded right into the middle of the road! I thought I would only have a few scratches but when I got up realised it was worse than I thought..a whole chunk of flesh had been taken out of my arm! And I had lots of other sore cuts on my leg. hannah was pretty cut up too. However, we still managed to bike it back to the hospital where I ended up having 10 stitches in my arm..it was all worth it though as the mopeds were awesome! But the one big downside other than looking a complete idiot with so many bandages (its called a ko pha nang tattoo here when you get a moped injury here as so many people do and you see people hobbling around everywhere!) when walking around here is the fact that I cant go swimming for 7 days which really sucks especially as we are planning to go on a boat trip tomorrow to snorkell and I wont be able to do it :(. Ah well, at least I will be able to dive on the next island. We have met some great people here too and really randomly ended up bumping into a girl called Jen from uni! Small world eh?! The full moon party is on the 24th mov which should be ace...apparently the beach is packed with about 8000 people! And then we head to ko tao island on the 26th for diving! Cant wait! Hope you are all doing well. I will add some pictures tomorrow as my battery is dead right now. Take care. lots of love.
