BULA EVERYBODY! Wow, these past few days in Fiji have been absolutely unreal! The last two days have been very relaxing and we have just stayed at our hostel and laid out on the beach and played card games. Last night our entire group went out to the bars in Nadi. It was fun except that the bars were completely empty besides us because apparently the Fijians don't go out to the bars until around 2am. Their bars are open until 5am! I have a huge bruise on my leg from dancing on the stripper poles which are very popular in Fiji. Needless to say, it was a good time J Tonight is Kava night at our hostel and everyone in our group is coming here to participate. Kava is a plant that grows near places by the Pacific Ocean. They grind up the roots of the plants and mix it with water! It is not the best tasting stuff but it is supposed to help one relax and is a sort of tradition in Fiji and other islands in the Pacific. We all got together and sung songs and drank Kava. For those of you who know me really well, I am ALWAYS wearing make-up. So you should be proud to know that I have not had any on for the last 48 hours! (Believe it or not) J
On our last day in Fiji we did one last day cruise to the island of Beachcomber. We left at 7am and took a boat from the Denarau Marina. We sat on top deck and it was an awesome view! You will never believe the first activity I did when we got there… SCUBA DIVING!!!!! It took a little persuading from everyone else, but I am so glad that I did it. We did a 30 ft dive for about 45 minutes after we took a 20 minute training session. Zach and I split the price of an underwater camera but unfortunately it was defective so I don't have any pictures to show you! Later in the day Zach, Nate, and I took a walk around the entire island with complementary drinks in hand (Chardonnay in wine glasses) J We found some cool looking dried up coral, but it was too big to bring back so I just took pictures instead. It was crazy windy that day and the waves were bigger than I've ever seen. Naturally, we went and played in them! J This was definitely the best day I had in Fiji! No words can describe how gorgeous it was at Beachcomber!! It looked like a postcard! VINAKA FIJI!!!
