We drive down to Byron Bay from Surfers Paradise. It was really drizzly again! I slept the whole way whilst Mark drove the 2 hour journey in silence! Maybe that was a good thing for him....
We arrived at Holiday Village Bcakpackers which was situated on the Main Street. We were sharing a holiday apartment with 4 other people. Our room was like a prison cell, tiny, bricked walls and just a bed...that was it! It was ok tho, just smelt funny thats all!
We had a look around, but as it wacking down it we didn't see too much. That night we met up with all our drunken buddies who were staying at another hostel and started drinking games involving the dreaded 'Goon' again. Thats all I need to say...we headed down to Cheeky Monkeys in a little mini bus singing Ghostbusters the whole way. The night involved dancing (if you can call it that) singing at the top of our voices to cheesy songs and many crazy picture opportunities. It was one crazy night!!
The internet guy is kicking me out now cos it's late...will update later...I'll be back!
RIGHT i'm back.
After spending a day recovering from the crazy night out, we had the energy to undertake a surfing lesson. It was so much fun. Our driver (and his dog 'Spud') drove us and a group nof others to Lennox Head, one of the most famous surf spots in Australia. It was beautiful there. The waves looked massive, hardly for a beginner!!
After a few wipe outs, I seemed to have got it and loved every minute of it. MArk could do it too, but got frustrated when he kept missing waves...typical boy thing. I actually enjoyed just being in the sea. WHilst we out messing around trying to stand up on our surf boards, I saw a pack of dolphins playing in the waves, it was amazing.
The next day, Me, Mark, Gavin and Matt (two Irish lads we met) when to this little place called Nimbin. It is a town full of hippies, and when I say hippies, I mean not pretend ones, thats how they live their lives. The town actually relys on selling, promoting and advertising smoking of cannabis. It was the most weirdest place I've ever been to. Everyone was out of their heads, and I mean everyone, Grandads, Granny's, Teenagers, Mums and even Dogs! They sell these cannabis cookies which mess you up (apparently!) It is somewhere I can't explain, but believe me when I say, I felt like I had gone back in time to the 1970's...no joke!!
After out comical day at Nimbin, Mark and I had to drive back to Brisbane as we were flying to Sydney in the early hours of the morning. We opted on sleeping at the airport (because we're cheap skates and very skint!) so we didn't have to pay for a hostel room. We were flying at 7am after all!
