We arrived safely and made it to our appartment. Which was surprisingly ok. We headed out that night for a beer on Khao San Road which is full yoff markets and bars. not really our thing as it was very busy, crowded and dirty.
The next day we went sightseeing to see all the temples as it was Buddha day so most of the private ones were open. We saw the Standing Buddha and the Lucky Buddha amongst others but they all started to look the same so we got confused! Theres loads of pictures of the king everywhere and phrases saying "Long Live the King"!
Stayed in Bangkok for 2 nights then we headed for Chaing Mai which is north of Thailand. This is much nicer than Bangkok as it is calmer. Found our hotel which was fully booked !?? so had to saty in a homestay bit rubbish but had a beer or 3 with a britihs ex pac and his thai girlfriend (classic) and they gave us some handy tips as well as trying crispy silk worms and beetles -yum.
We have just finsihed a 3 day trek in the moutains where we did elephant riding and bamboo rafting - all amazing. we stayed in a carren village where they farm rice and cattle. very beautiful. The trek was quite demanding but worth it in the end.
Today we went to Chang Rai for the day which was good - we saw the long neck tribes which obviously have long necks. Alos went to the golden triangle which was interesting and actually went into Laos and got our passport stamped!! cooool.
Tomorrow we are off to Suckattah which is the old capital of Thailand... Hope everyone is well, we will try and get photos up but no computes have usb - so behingd the times!!
