we had a big thunder and lightning storm here on monday night we got to see some pretty awesome flashes! bit worried rafting was gonna get cancelled but it didnt so on tues me, victor, greg, sarah and her friend melissa piled into victors car and took a road trip up to golden BC and to the kicking horse river. we were jamming to the grease soundtrack on the way was funny.

we got there early so we killed time playing frisbe, eating hot choccolate and watching people ziplining. glad we didnt pay the extra money to do it. we got a bbq lunch before we set off on the river which was yummy and after we got suited up in our wetsuits and life jackets and we headed off down the river. the start was reall slow and calm and me, sarah and victor jumped in the river at one point. it was so cold and it kinda puts u into shock at first. i couldnt breathe properly or talk, i was gasping so much it was fezzing. getting back into the raft was a challenge but made it eventually after nearly getting strangled by my life jacket and helmet.

the first half of the trip was class 2 and 3 rapids with 2 class 4's. we got totally soaked cause we were sitting up the front. going over the class 4's was the best bit we were getting thrown around the boat was awesome. our group and a few others headed on to do the ultimate part of the trip we had o get a bus up the river a bit and back in our rafts to do the lower canyon which was solid class 4's and oh my god it was adrenalin pumping. we were getting thrown around, soaked and still having to paddle. quite a few times the raft felt like it was gonna topple over and a few times were were all brought to our feet. we got totally drenched. it was well worth it. the waves were huge and when we were told to hold on u had no idea which way the rapids were gonna send u and if u'd even stay in the boat.

it was one of the best things i've done so far since i've been here. on the way back we stopped off at lake louise for some dinner and safeway to get a movie. we rented lord of the rings and pretty much everyone in oreo was snuggled up on the couches and the floor watching it. i fell asleep half way through and woke up at the end. woke up late this morning and after a yummy pancake breakie and a good chat with the parents think i'm going to go and watch the matrix!
