Beckie's Big Bling
Crossed the border in Thailand safe and sound and even practising my thai (well I had just about mastered thank you by then!) It was then straight back onto the bus to travel north to the coast .. hurrah ... a few days relaxing on the beach!
We arrived in Ao Nang in the afternoon, a small town on the coast about 30 mins drive from Krabi. We went out for a local thai dinner and then onto a small local thai bar to enjoy a few cocktails. It was a good evening with the locals showing us how to play pool and even got the limbo bar out! Something I have to say Thais are much better at than us westerners!! We finished the night off with a quick swim in the sea. Water was so warm and some good waves to ride.
The next morning went out on a speed boat to visit some of the islands off the mainland. Visited Koh Phi Phi, which was beautiful and my photos looked like postcards! We spent the day island hoping, swimming and snorkelling .. even saw a sea snake. We got back late afternoon and after dinner most of us crashed out and had an early night.
The next day we got up early to go and visit the local food market in Krabi. An interesting experience and even saw some pink eggs! Then it was onto the Thai cooking school where learnt how to make loads of yummy dishes and try them all out. Some were even too hot for my liking! We then traveled back to Ao Nang and for the afternoon Jon, Katie and I caught a water taxi over to Railey Beach. Really nice to chill out and relax topping up the tan! Left the beach just before sunset and headed back to town for a quick bite to eat in the Irish Pub before heading onto some bars. More cocktails and games of pool later we decided to go swimming again. Really good laugh and Michael and Teresa even made it to sunrise unlike us oldies!
Next morning though they were not so quick out of bed and so racing in the tuk tuk to try and catch up with the bus that had already left. Made it and all piled on! I have to admit was glad to find the back seat and catch up on some sleep while we travelled north.
