Pasa De La Casa, Andorra
Ok, so have decided to write a short bit about the ski trip. This was my third ski trip I did one at school in 2001, then decided to go with Bedfordshire Young Farmer Club (Yfc) last year to Bansko, Bulgaria which was brilliant fun. This year 17 of us went to Andorra. Had a nice early flight 7.10 from Gatwick but we all got there on time, and so the skiing started. The skiing was alot better than last year, an added bonus being that our hotel was about 50m from a slope so could just walk down there each morning with our skis, but our skis on, all though I rather struggled with this as was on a slope, then ski down to the lift. For our first run we thought would do a nice blue run, read the piste map, possibly slightly wrong as actually went down the main red run, whoops! But all survived then found the blues, :) over the course of the week I was feeling much more confident and happy, managed to do my first full black run as well a parts of some other black runs, and my top speed reached was 41mph which I was pretty pleased with.
Lots of fun was had on and off the piste, plenty of banter, drinking,(very cheap drinks) laughter, drama, most off which is not going to be repeated here. But I think quite a few of us learnt new things!! Next year I need to get more out off snowplough must get some proper parallel going (lessons needed!!)
The journey back again started early (at hotel reception checked out at 4.45am)as we were travelling/sleeping could see lots of fog. At the half way point were we stopped, the reps rang up the airport to check the plane would land and take off, got the go ahead. So get to Jader all check in, go to departures (well the vending machines) think its getting foggier, and then get the word that no the planes can't land so now flying from Barcelona, que getting bags back, check they are yours, get back on coach, 2 hour coach trip, arrive at Barcelona check in again then departure lounge there, massive massive difference, also a lot of walking. Good flight back and actually only touched down in Gatwick about 3 hours later than planned. If anything the whole changing thing made me more excited to go travelling.
Would just like to say a big thanks to John Webb for organising yet another Beds Yfc ski trip, with Neilson through Baileys travel in Leighton Buzzard.
