We arrived in Singapore late thursday afternoon & had to trek it to our hostel.. not very nice with a bag weighing the same as a small child on your back combined with 30 degree weather!! But we made it (alive) and had our last night with the tour girls! We went to the local food court for dinner then deaded to Raffles for of course, a Singapore Sling!! Ridiculously overpriced but definetly worth it just for the experience :) then we headed to Clarke Quay which looked absolutely lovely at night with all the lights, and ended up at one of the bars enjoying a few cocktails with the girls!
Friday was Lou's arrival day!! wooo :) so we met her at the hostel in the evening and just chilled out with her, but we were all knackered so pretty much just went to bed after she arrived! (Hardcore!) Saturday we bought the Hop on/off bus tour ticket again & took a tour round the city, went to Chinatown and bought way too much stuff at the local market & then visited the temple nearby! Seen enough temples in these last 2 weeks to last me a lifetime!!! Walked along Orchard Road which was oh so posh! Lots of designer stores and shopping malls (had to do some more shopping didn't we....) & then we finally went up on the Singapore Flyer to get a better view of the city from up high! (Bigger version of the LondonEye basically) so that was lovely, luckily the weather was clear so we could see quite far out! Got some great shots :)
Met up with our old tour guide for dinner, and she recommended some places to go out to later that night, seeing as it was a saturday night and near haloween and all! So we headed off back to Raffles as Lou needed to experience the Singapore sling :) of course we had to have another one... wouldnt be bad not too! So after enjoying the live band, and having a few photo oppurtunities with them, we headed off back to Clarke Quay which was absolutely packed with people all dressed up! Gotta give them 10/10 for effort out here, puts us back home to shame!! We ended up at some club called 'Forbidden City', awesome name... haha! But it was actually a brilliant night! The DJ played songs about 10 years old (Pussycat dolls - Beep was a classic...) and there was even an ice bar with free bacardi in (people actually had to pay but they left it unlocked so we took full advantage!!) and we danced the night away until our feet couldnt take it anymore so we headed back!
Pretty much spent all of yesterday in bed & relaxing around the local area, as we were too knackered to do anything! But we had the night safari in the evening so it wasnt a completely wasted day :) left around 6ish and headed off to the Night Safari, which was brilliant! Only problem is you cant use flash photography so photos came out absolutely awful, doesnt justify all the amazing animals we saw!! But we had a good night that we will remember & we ended it by watching the local people doing a fire dance, mad men!! Managed to get good photos of that though so its all good :)
Currently stranded in our Hostel, as Qantas is on strike and we still have no idea whether or not we will get out of Singapore tonight or not!! So keep your fingers crossed & hopefully next time you'll hear from me we'll be in Sydney :) so excited for australia!!!
Lots of love, Becci xxxx
