Our next port of call was only a short stop over so that we could see the endangered primate centre and a supposedly very nice nationla park. We found one decent hotel and to be honest that was about it! A barking dog, street lights that went mental and thats about it, we found one restuarant at the only posh hotel (3 star) in the area (thank god we werent staying long!)
The best day however was the day tour to Cuc Phong national park, where we got to see the endngered primate resuce centre. Of course we travelled by motor bike and when we arrived we were taken by a guide to look at the monkeys. Vietnam has quite a few primtes that are native only to this part of the world and as with every where else they are in touble. The centre wasnt great for us as the cges were covered in foliage and set back form the path whhc made them difficult to see but it was better for them. They had gibbons swiniging around and monkeys that looked like they had white shorts on! The woan who wa in chrage told us shed just been to the isle of jersey on a training course and she cried and got very upset as shed heard about a family of apes that had been taken from the congo to london on the black market for bush meat, where they tie the moeny to the table and scalp is alive then eat the brains. It was awful, i cant believe people can be so cruel!
Anyways after id finished crying we set of into the park and we did a hike (and almost got lost!) to the thousand yer old tree, which was huge and looked like it had been there well over 1000 years. On the way out of the park Si's bike got a puncture so he had to hop on mine with me and my driver and it wqas mental 3 of us on a moped speeding round corners! Anyways after lunch and Si's bike was fixed we headed off towards home stopping off at a fishing village where all the pople row their boats with their feet! sounds exciting the Lonely Planet describes it as a small village with few permanent building where the people row with their feet watching the world go by...not true when we got there, theres pople had obviously wisened up to tourism and now all hd houses ion the banks and we caught the rowing with their hands until they saw us coming when the feet were getting used!
After this it was home again and to bed luckily we had a tv for the boring night ahead!
