¡Hola mis amigos!
This is our last blog from Argentina as at 1pm today we are taking a 21 hour bus to Rio de Janerio. We have had a quite a hectic few days but are enjoying 'travelling'again after staying in BA for so long. We arrived in Puerto Iguazú on Monday lunchtime after an 18 hour bus ride which wasn't actually that bad as we had full on beds so we managed to get some sleep, the fact we got some free vino and champagne also helped! On Monday evening we went on a boat trip which went along the Rio Paraña, which separates Paraguay, Argentina and Brazil - a triple border! It was really quite pretty and we got to see a beautiful sunset. However, it was quite entertaining on board as we were a good few decades younger than everyone else on boar! We stopped on the shore of Paraguay to watch a native dance on the beach and then headed back to Argentina. We had on board entertainment in the form of two men singing traditionnal Argentinian songs, which the oldies loved! They were singing along, clapping out of tune and then they started dancing! We had a taster of what it might be like to go on a SAGA holiday! After docking, we hitched a ride back on the oldies'coach and had a nice meal of local fish in a nearby restaurant.
On Tuesday we visited the Argentinian side of the falls. We wandered round looking at all the many waterfalls, which were absolutlely spectacular (as you can see from our large selection of photos!) and so much bigger than we expected. We also went on a boat trip into the waterfalls which was lots of fun, although we got completely drenched. After going under the falls we went down the rapids on the Rio Iguazú and then went on a 4x4 ride through the jungle back to the entrance. It was a lovely sunny day so we sat and sunbathed for a bit before heading back to the hostel.
Yesterday, we popped over to Brazil to see the Brazilian side of th falls. This involved getting a number of buses and having to go through customs twice. The Brazilian side is very different to the Argentinian side as you can see the falls from a distance and you get a better idea of how massive they are. There is no one place from which you can see the entire falls as they are too wide. It was an even hotter day so we sunbathed for a couple of hours in the afternoon before making our way back to Argentina.
It has been great to see the falls as they truly are amazing but we are looking forward to moving onto Rio!
See you all very soon, Chau from Argentina,
Love Jen and Becki xx xx xx xx xx
