We are now nearing the evening of our second day at sea before reaching Southampton tomorrow.
The cruise is nearing the end now. Just one more sleep and then we are back home in England. Right now we are heading toward the English channel. The weather is still very sunny if just a tad cooler (not much though).
We have enjoyed two full days at sea.....The weather yesterday was quite bad, rough sees but not tooooooo rough, Barbara felt a little unwell but, considering I feel a bit unwell today and it is calm, I think it was a tummy upset rather than sea-sickness.
Yesterday we sat down for an evening meal in one of the restaurants and I decided to be brave and trial snails.
What a mistake to make......They came in tiny individual cups built into one round plate and, initially, looked quite nice. That was until I poked through the sauce and actually got a snail onto my fork.... two my credit, I had 3 of the six that made up my starter. The third one I had to swallow with several mouthfuls of bread AND a mouthful of cocktail,. Really.....really nasty texture. I keep thinking about it today! Probably why my tum has been a bit funny,. O-o
Well anyway, I did it.....I won't do it again! The garlic sauce was quite nice but really....the snail on the fork is an image I want to erase from my memory.
David tried pheasant and really enjoyed it.....it looked a darn sight better than snails in garlic butter.
We enjoyed that restaurant setting so much that we decided to book again tonight for our last meal together.
Last night, to avoid the balloon drop party, David and I went up top to watch a movie under the stars. It was Cinderella and....amazingly, we both enjoyed it! Not usually my type of film but, when it comes to avoiding 400 children with 400 plus balloons....anything goes.
I have managed to dodge the plethora of kids running around today with balloon animals and swords. Hideous.....(the balloons not the kids!)
We have met some really nice people on this cruise....I have chatted away in sign language to a deaf couple who were brilliant and made amazing efforts to communicate with everyone. It has been good for me to improve my, ever so rusty, sign language.
I think everyone has had a brilliant holiday and we are all now looking forward to getting home. The sea, right now is calm and we have already passed through the bay of biscay.
Here are some photographs which Gary and Barbara bought (and i took photos of the photos they bought!)
Great holiday, great company....
shame we only came first in two quizzes!!
