So, one dose of glandular fever, one dose of hepatitis and one deferred entry to uni later I start 'The Plan'.
• BUY A MAP. I tried using google maps and it is great, don't get me wrong, but a big laminated version is all the better to draw on and a quicker reference (you see in this picture it doubles up as a placemat)
•PICK UP A TRAVEL GUIDE. I borrowed lonely planets, Europe on a shoestring book (the size of a breeze block) to get me started. Often they give you a brief overview of each country and the interesting places in that country. A great place to start if you don't have a list in your mind.
•MAKE A WISHLIST. Now you know a bit more about each place make a list of the places you WANT to go and even better mark them on your map.
These were the first steps I took to planning my trip!
