Retired & Traveling
Hard to believe, but we are at sea again today. It doesn't look like our next port is that far away, but apparently it is further away than what the ship could reach overnight.
In any case, there's no excuse for not working out, so we all did. Rich went his own way and I joined Pam and Mike for a walk out on Deck 7. After our walk, the three of us went to breakfast. Last cruise, I went for the smoked salmon almost every morning, and this time, I haven't had it once!
We got our bathing suits on and went to the pool area to soak in the hot tub. The Zumba class was just beginning, and it is always entertaining to watch. And guilt free, too, since we had already exercised. :))
Once we got out, we found out we were on lounge chairs right next to this fun couple we'd met on our river float, Lincoln and Linda. We chatted with them a bit, then left to get cleaned up for the morning session of Bingo. $40 dollars and an hour later, no wins for us. There's a couple from Austin who has won almost every time we've played! The lady told us she's played Bingo on every cruise she's been on and never won--she is surely making up for lost time now!
We had lunch again at the buffet, which had fried shrimp on it today! I had already snagged some pizza, but had to go back for shrimp--it was really good. The guys had been to some lecture about the cruising industry, so they were busy sharing what they'd learned while we were eating.
Pam and I went to a foot analysis seminar and since it was a small group, we got individualized assessments. The instructor, Sami, used my footprint as an example of a poor way of walking. She recommended a shoe insert made by Good Feet, only $199, said it would last between 5-10 years. It's supposed to align your spine. She did a demonstration with me where she had me put my fists one on top of the other next to my belly. Then she pushed very lightly on my hands and I toppled forward. Next, she put the shoe insert under my bare foot, and this time no matter how hard she pushed on my hand, I stayed put! It was pretty amazing. So--I probably won't purchase the inserts on the ship, but will look into it once I'm home again.
The Texas game was on tv, so Rich caught the last quarter while Pam and I staked out a table for the afternoon session of Bingo. The jackpot was up to $2,000 in 52 numbers, but no winners at our table. :(( It will roll over again, so there's still hope! The couple from Austin won another big pot, we estimate they are close to $1,000 in winnings so far!
We ate dinner in the Bayou Cafe again and all of us got the filet mignon this time. That steak just melts in your mouth. Rich tried the Gator ribs as his appetizer, I had the jambalaya , Mike went for the gumbo and oysters, Pam had the salad. Rich also got a one pound lobster tail--another very fine meal!
We got in line for the theater after dinner--the early show was just letting out, and it must've been a full crowd, because they just kept coming. The singer who had performed was selling his CD's and autographing them right next to where we were standing. He looks like he's about 15!! (He's actually 32--looked it up when we got home.) Since we were so early for the show, we got really good seats (we are usually coming in a minute before the show begins and sitting on the far right side of the stage), so this was a treat.
The singer's name was Will Martin, and he was from New Zealand. He played the piano and sang several popular songs-great voice, and he also was quite funny. Cute kid.
I was tired after the show, so we went back to the room and watched the end of a movie before lights out. Pam said she and Mike have been going out to Deck 7 and sitting out enjoying the warm night air.
