Retired & Traveling
We didn't have to be anywhere this morning, so, of course, I was awake at 6:00 am. Boo!! I resolved to wash my hair and get ready for whatever we chose to do. Once everyone was up, we decided to go with Jeanne to see her cooking school, Cordon Bleu, which is literally just a little walk away, then hit some of the street markets that were set up for today. We parted ways since Jeanne had chores to do and struck out on the subway for Trocadero so Marcy could get a good shot of the Eiffel Tower (because the other 50 pictures of it aren't quite the right angle. LOL)
Once that was accomplished, we caught a train to the Christmas markets over on Champs Élysées. Lots of vendors hawking food, trinkets and such but it was a BEAUTIFUL day and American Christmas carols (very bizarre) were playing over loud speakers and it was so much fun to just wander around. I had my first ever crepe Suzette filled with Nutella and hot off the grill. Oh la la!! It was so delicious and worth every calorie. There were lots of goodies to tempt us but we abstained and ended up at the Ferris wheel on Place de la Concorde. Since it was such a pretty day, up we went. The views were great and totally worth the price (10 Euros each).
Back to the apartment to get Jeanne and off we all went to the Marais area for the city's best eclairs. The choices were overwhelming! The streets were extremely crowded at this point, partly because it was a weekend day but mostly because the weather was so pretty. We were trying to find a park but ended up in a bar having some wine and people watching. Truly a Parisian thing to do! :)) As pricey as everything else is, their wine is a real bargain! A huge glass was only $4.50.
Marcy and I have tickets to a champagne show at Moulin Rouge tonight...more about that adventure tomorrow!

Barbara Each day I've been meaning to check your blog, but just now actually read it. The underground part of the Louvre tour must have been fabulous. Wish I could have done that. My mouth waters just hearing and thinking about the yummy food. You two are really covering a lot of ground. I can only imagine how good it feels after a day of walking to get in a warm café or Jeanne's aprt and relax and enjoy fabulous food/wine. Paris looks so much different in the winter than the summer. Wish I was with you. Good luck to Jeanne on her test.
