STATS
Departure: 10:00 AM, Williamsburg, VA
Arrival: 12:15 PM, Charlottesville, VA
Miles: 122 miles
Travel Time: 2 hrs. 15 min.
It's strange to be excited about leaving a place when it’s as beautiful as Williamsburg. But we were expecting to be there four days and three nights (arrive on Saturday, Colonial Williamsburg on Sunday and Monday, leave Tuesday). Instead we were there for 12 days (11 nights). Now we’re in Charlottesville, expecting to visit Thomas Jefferson’s home, Monticello. We got to the KOA today, expect to go into Monticello tomorrow, and leave on Friday the 12th. That’s 27 days in DC and surrounding colonial areas.
That’s just shy of a month. I’m glad I have a big Visa card.
Today, we’re in the Charlottesville KOA, somewhere near Monticello, another beautiful area. Our plan is to get better, stay healthy, and leave on Friday. We’ll see how that goes.

kristen get to UVA if you can after monticello!
Beverly Morgan When you get to Monticello, look for all of his inventions. I love the way he makes carbon copies of documents and his clock. Enjoy
Patrick Glad you're on the mend. I hope it's not Barb's turn now! I'm just going to say that I am LONGING for the time when I can plan to stay somewhere for 4 days and just stay 12 instead!!! (not that I want to be sick the whole time though) And if you're Visa gets all worn out, soggy and non-compliant, you can always stay in the Wal-Mart parking lots for free - Sam Walton welcomed the RV campers. The view's aren't quite as good as the KOA's but the neighbors are ALWAYS.....umm..........."interesting". (try a google photo search of "walmart people". see how long you can last) Just think of it: with all the augmenting free nights, you could stay on the road until Maddie's graduation. (not that I've ever camped in the Wal-Mart myself of course,....but I've heard stories ;-)
