Buenas Tardes!
Arrived in La Paz, Bolivia yesterday. This is the highest "capital" city in the world (it isnt the official capital but is where the government is located) and is just crazy. Its the most lively place we have been too so far with literally hundreds of street markets selling anything you can imagine from llama foetus' to chainsaws! People are constantly shouting for attention but it is a welcome break from Peru where the phrase "NO GRACIAS!!!!" became very boring!
The two days before we arrived here in La Paz were spent at Lake Titicaca, the worlds highest navigable lake. We took part in a home stay with families from an island on the lake which was a great experience. They spoke a native incan anguage called Quechua which made our time there even more random as we were only told a few basic phrases! Sam and I spent the first afternoon watching our mum Hilda cooking us dinner in over an open fire. It was interesting to watch the way that they have to do things in such basic conditions, and was amazing to taste how good the food actually was! After lunch we went and played a football tournament with locals and another tucan tour which we won winning three games and loosing two!
In the evening we had to dress in traditional clothing and go to a hall on the island with a local band playing music. This was a lot more fun than I thought it would be, our mum was a really groover and me and Sam could barely keep up!
Ill load some pictures of all the action on soon!
Hope all is well!
Ciao x
