today we leave byron bay for coolangatta where we have a timeshare so a week of relative luxury which we are looking forward to very much!! (thank u ian and janet!) an escape from dorm life and the dreaded bunk beds! byron has been brilliant, have had loads of fun and met some really cool people.
we arrived on sunday after spending a night near the airport due to lack of dorms available on saturday and we jst relaxed the first day or two on the beach basking in the glorious weather. however after that the weather got a bit more patchy and we were forced to seek adventure away from the sandy shores. so sedge and bav went up 14,000ft in the sky and jumped out of a plane, got a dvd made of it (sedge's is set to dubious music) and then spent the rest of tuesday absolutely buzzing. they both feel that skydiving is a fantastic experience. to quote bavin :"you cant describe it, its the most ridiculous rush in the world". joe feels that the word "rush" should be replaced with "activity" to give a more accurate view of the situation. meanwhile whilst our intrepid heroes were diving fearlessly, joey was risking life and limb in shark infested waters (true story) and taking up his first surf lesson. later in the week the fly boys joined in but as it was their first lesson they mainly jst played on invisible surfboards in the sand while the high flyers such as joe cruised the waves. surfing is easier than it looks and we think we r going 2 give it another go somewhere and try and get to a decent standard if we can!
the first nites sleep in byron was interrupted by a mad irishman named cornelius singing snow patrol, however we had a very pleasant few beers with him and a couple of guys the next nite and sung at a few sleeping drunk men in the road. we also had a fun, yet slightly rowdy, nite playing ring of fire (our new fave game) with big show, lewis, pardew, bushy and dean. top blokes who r in fiji and hawaii at the same time as us so hopefully we wil see again. our week of fun in byron was made ten times better when on one of the first days young stephen decided he needed to do some push ups, he gamely started pumping out his first set thinking nobody but bav was in the room when in actual fact a slightly embarrassed girl was tryin 2 get to her bed and the hulking adonis was obliviously in her way. a very amusing situation that left sedge with his chin far from up.
we would recommend byron bay to anyone travelling around oz, its a really friendly, almost hippyish place that has loads of stuff to do. hopefully our travels up the east coast can carry on in the same way...if not at least we arent in bognor!
hope u are all enjoying reading wat we get up 2 and are having fun at home. the bad news is we need 2 get a job in less than a month, rubbish!!!! remember kids sport hurts, go hard or go home. x
