Off Exploring
This morning we got up and got some coffee from Park Café. I had read that it's pretty bad and that’s true, but it’s also free so I can live with it. We wondered around looking at some of the breakfast venues. Wipeout Café offers omelets cooked to order so I wanted to see what sides they had. It was a limited selection of bacon, fruit, and some bread. They only offer a few fillings for omelets like ham, tomatoes, mushrooms, and one or two more so I think I’ll be skipping the omelets. We looked onto one of the interactive computers and found breakfast in the dining room. They offer a small buffet and a menu. We decided to sit down and order some breakfast. We got the classic which consists of two eggs, hash browns, toast and one side (corned beef hash for Kyle, turkey sausage for me). Breakfast was pretty bad, but it’s free! That just leaves more room for roast beef sandwiches. I’m still glad we skipped the regular buffet since it was packed and we weren’t in the mood to fight the crowds. I think we’ll go there tomorrow morning once we dock and some people get off the boat.
We went to the casino, which doesn’t open until 9. Kyle played a few slots and I played some video poker. We decided to skip sushi because the menu didn’t appeal to us and we went to Park Café for a roast beef sandwich and salad. I got a tuna melt Panini and it was pretty good, but not as good as the roast beef. We saw the afternoon showing of Hairspray. I liked it but at two hours it was longer than I expected. We had dinner at Johnny Rockets, which was good. It has a cover charge of $5.95 per person and you can order as much as you want.
At six we found a TV in the casino and settled in because Kyle wanted to watch the US play the World Cup. Our spot was very popular and we met all kinds of people. There was one couple who stayed the whole game and we really liked them. The woman was from Brazil but has been living in the US since she was ten. They live in North Carolina now. The downside of such a large boat is that we probably will not run into them again. We also met a really nice Australian couple at the muster drill. We got kicked out by the crew because we stayed too long talking to the couple. I’m really not into soccer but it’s always fun watching sports on the boat because it unites all of these people from different countries and we met a ton of people that we otherwise might not have met.
