Paraguay....why not.
Sharan and i thought we'd clock up a bonus country whilst it was on our doorstep, so we hop over the border to Paraguay, get another stamp in the book.
This is the capital city of Paraguay.....i felt like i was walking around in a Tintin novel, with military police roaming the streets. made sure to only go out in the day during the week. Our hotel looked out on to a square where homeless people lived - they had tents, people washed out of buckets in public, and this was normal? In contrast, you'd see expensive german cars being driven around and the government and business district were a 10 minute walk down the road.
The city itself is littered with interesting and historical buildings, and is quite buzzy. We could tell we were getting closer to Brazil - the best meal we had here was a 'pay by the kilo' place recommended to us by a French guy we met in our hostel.
The girl at the hostel was very nice and gave us some handy hints about the place....but we were moving on up. Let's go.
