This is the day! The day we get to be overwhelmed by the great Taj Mahal its self.
We woke up a little later than expected due to Rich's alarm not going off.. Grim! But luckily, due to Rich's good hotel choice, we were in walking distance from the Taj Mahal. So time wasn't really an issue. After breakfast we sorted out or rooms and set off both suited up in our new Indian style clothing ;-)
We got up to the ticket booth to pay for the tickets when Rich realised he'd mis counted our money and couldn't afford our tickets. So we then had to walk back to find a cash machine to withdraw some extra cash.. Silly billy!
While walking to the Taj Mahal gate we realised we had a queue jump due to being a high valued visitor. Sweeetttttt!
This was soon dampened as we went through customs and Rich couldn't bring in his tripod. Typical Rich.
He then had to walk back out and find a locker room for his silly tripod, while I had to wait by the army men until he returned.
Once he finally returned, we walked into the Taj Mahal. It was just spectacular, the building itself was just incredible. The gardens, the fountains and the marble work was definitely worth the trip. We spent a little while taking photos but at the same time having hundreds of photos taken of us! The Indians love to take pictures of tourist, or even better, with tourists!! It makes you feel like you're a celebrity!!
We spent the next 2 hours wandering around the area admiring the views, we went inside the taj and saw the tomb of the dead wife it was built for.
It was truly a wonderful day, the sum was shinning and the vibe was just... Goooddd!
We finally left for the hotel and had some food, followed by along nap. To be honest we were shattered and a nice mid day sleep was what we needed to catch up with our busy schedule. After sleeping we went and got some snacks from the market on the street, two packs of biscuits, two drinks and two packs of crisps and toilet paper all for 2.10 bargain we thought. All until we arrived back to the hotel to snack while watching a documentary on the human planet, we only realised that everything we bought was out of date!!! Hahaha they caught us!!! What else could we expect?? This was India after all, so we ate it all regardless.. Yum! Lol
We soon for fell back to sleep (lazy bums) and woke up just I time for a lil curry before bed! :-)
