Well we made it, after a hectic last few days in England.
Spent the first few days feeling a bit overwhelmed to be honest, as Mumbai was a bit of a shock to the system. It seemed to us to be hot, crowded and dirty and we just weren't prepared for the unrelenting attention of touts trying to sell you something on every street. However...after a couple of days we got used to the place and by the time we left we really quite liked it - particularly Colaba, the area we were staying in.
After 4 days we got an overnight train down to Goa (really impressed with the trains here, they give you food, pillows and a blanket) and relaxed by the beach for a couple of days. As it's still monsoon season here, Goa was pretty quiet but you could see everyone preparing for the imminent season, lots of restaurant and bar renovations going on. It was very beautiful but slightly on the tacky side - although that may have just been the particular area we were in. Also, it seems like every guy under the age of 25 in Goa has a motorbike or moped and just loves to roar around on it - we spent half our time leaping out of the way of them!
