So I will start were I left off from last time, we went to Ayars rock very early to watch the sun rise, it was nice but full of Asians with there cameras and the classic V sign!!!! Personally I don’t think the rock is all what its cracked up to be, it’s a long drive and I mean long (I will put it into English terms like from London to Scotland and back will get you to the rock and then you have that again to get away) That’s a long way oh and I did I forget to mention at the roads are just flat and straight, your best friend is the petrol station (I spent 1 hour at one, the guy mad me coffee and spoke for years I couldn’t get away) and all you see is roo`s all for a rock, a big one at that!!
So from the rock we checked out the pinnacles and then headed to Alice Springs, and off to the devils marbles, which I think were interesting, these massive rocks just sit on top of each other and balance its weird.
From here we heading across Australia to the coast stoping of at all towns well two, one was Mt Isa, where we had a good game of pool with the locals and tried to understand the local lingo, and the other was Longreach.
We finally reached civilisation again at Harvey bay on the east coast, we stayed in a campsite which was right on the beach, during our 3 days there we went to a famous shark museum, went out in the evening to the local and would you believe it that miss Harvey Bay was on so that as cool, I met cool people there and I believe one was old enough to be my mum and she was as cool as her as well!!!! She danced with me and I also think that she was pissed on one glass of wine (people that know my mum will know what I am banging on about there)!!!!!
From Harvey bay we got a flight to Frazer Island and a 4X4 on the island, it was amazing the plane was an 8 seater and was so good, we even landed on the beach. The island is the biggest sand base island and has some of the most beautiful fresh water lakes with sliver sand it was amazing. We drove all over the island but Simon thought we had enough time to go to another lake before the flight left, I was a little apprehensive, we had half an hour to get back to the beach to take off and we had a long way to go. I took over driving and made that 4X4 work overtime, so much so that when I got back to the beach I had no brakes and it was a automatic, I had split the brake pipes, man that a predicament!!! I drove it for a bit but then we had to ditch it and hitch hike the rest of the beach, we delayed our flight by and hour and the airline recovered the car and we were off back to Harvey bay!
From here we headed south to surfers paradise, and stoped at wet and wild on the way, that was a fun day, it was a park like Disney land!! But there were lots of people our age so it was cool; I like to think that the park was designed for big kids!
In suffers we spent most of our time body boarding, relaxing on the beach and gong out, we found one place where the drinks were $1 each madness!!!
From suffers we headed to Byron Bay, it was the weekend of a massive music festival it was rammed, we stayed in a campsite the first night and then they were all booked up!! We spent the day on the beach and at the end of the day met these two northerners that were heading north to go to a wedding, we chatted for a while then we went out separate ways, me and dron had dinner and then were walking back to the van and guess who we saw the northerners, so we both parked our wicked vans in a car park and headed out for a few beers, they there such a laugh!! The next day we spent with them going on a little walk to a lighthouse and chilling on the beach, until the heavens opened and I have never seen so much rain in Australia, yet they are in a drought!!!
After Byron bay we headed south towards Sydney and we are saying at bens house where we have lots of dinners with family and friends, last night me, Simon, Ben and Jake were at his sisters, tonight we are at ruby and David’s (people we met on a camp with Ben) and one day this week we will go to the blue mountains to the caves, also the Easter show. We drop our van off in Sydney Saturday and will spend 4 nights in the city in a backpackers.
The other day five of us went up the blue mountains cannoning, I didn’t know what it was, oh my god, I have never had so much fun, basically, you follow the cannon so it evolves jumping of water falls and rocks into small pools and sliding down smooth rocks into water, you could say it was a natural water park!!! On some jumps if you held our hands out you would have hit the sides!!!!! Mental
