We arrived in Agadir and immediately noticed the complete contrast to anywhere else we had been in Morocco. Agadir was devastated by an earthquake in 1960 and was subsequently rebuilt into an underwhelming scruffy, tacky, out of date sea side town. Moroccans and Saudi tourists are drawn by its cosmopolitan air and huge sandy beach and the opportunity to escape the restraints of their everyday lives.
WE HATED IT!! If anyone from the UK still comes here on package holidays whey would get completely the wrong idea of what Morocco is like which is totally, totally, different than Agadir. To make matters worse the only campsite is the most dirty, dustry, rundown depressing place you could imagine. The showers are more like dungeons with no lighting and so consequently shut at 6p.m. How anyone comes here in a motor home to avoid the winter in Europe (and apparently plenty do) we can't understand.
We spent the next day doing necessary chores like visiting the internet cafe, replenishing supplies at one of the few large supermarkets in Morocco and got he hell out of the place as soon as we could.
