This morning we took a walk to the town´s weekly animal market. A 5 minute visit was enough to scare me vegetarian. The squeeling pigs, the meowing cats, the frantic looking guinea pigs, ducks, chickens, lambs, alpacas, cows & horses were tightly round up in an emotionally disconnected trading scene. The only emotions on display were those of the animals who seemed to some how sense they would be ending up on a plate. Dawn, Georgia and I were quick to gtfo.
We ended up spending the afternoon shopping at the local market. I bought two beautiful feather paintings of Otavalo natives in front of the Imbabura and Cotopaxi volcanoes.
We left Otavalo mid-afternoon and headed back to Quito for one more evening. Georgia and I crashed some private party at the Scotland Yard which was supposed to be an English speaking venue. Not a single English word was dropped; our mission failed and we ended up back at the hotel around 9pm. We party hard folks.
