November 2012. It was finally going to happen, without my parents, I was going to a foreign country I had never been before: Romania.
Every year the fouth-graders of my highschool go to a foreign country for a week. Everybody is placed in a family and everyone gets a partner. And everybody also has to receive that partner. So there are two exchange weeks, one in November and one in March. (November first) It depends on which country you go to whether you leave or receive in November or March.
We had to go in November. I was so excited! I had waited for this moment since I was little and I was so glad that my class was chosen to go to Romania! (the other countries were: France, Italy, Poland, Spain and Portugal) I had already been in France, Spain and Portugal and I was sure I would go to Spain and Poland one day. Also, when you are going to France you were going by bus. To the other locations you'd go by plane. I had never flown before, so, this made it extra exciting for me.
In short, this week was great! I made a lot of friends and the people were awesome. Romania is a beautiful country and also really different from the Netherlands (where I was born and raised). I am planning to put my whole (written) diary online, but that'll take a while since it's like 90 pages (including photos). So stay tuned and you'll soon see my full Romania diary!
