We have access to many luxuries in Australia, unlike orphaned children in Africa who would be lucky to make it into their 30s without our continued support and assistance.
During my time volunteering in Africa, I will be utilising this blog site (also linked to Facebook) to keep you updated with news, pictures and more about my journey and experience.
The greatest cause of abandoned children on the streets in Africa is poverty. As the HIV/AIDS pandemic takes its toll many children have been left without parents to take care of them. Such neglected children have often been taken by other families or by charitable persons and groups and put up in orphanages. Orphanage operators are often in great need of labour support to supplement their efforts.
