2nd & 3rd Aug - Back to England to visit York. We tried to orient ourselves around York and got hopelessly lost in the small little lanes. We visited Chris & Beth to know how Aussies were coping with the British weather. It was great to share our weather woes with people who understand!! It was also great to have a good Aussie BBQ again and the weather held out for us. The next day we got up and had Beth's insider tip for a good coffee (another rare commodity like sunshine in England) and headed to York Minster - largest collection of Medieval glass in Western Europe. We then took umpteen stairs up the tower to view 360 views of York. We loved wandering around York's little laneways, including the one where Harry Potter's first movie was filmed. We then had afternoon tea at the infamous Betty's Tearoom - YUM!! We were then back on the road again….
4th - 8th Aug - Another week back in Milton Keynes to regroup, wash clothes and save a bit of money before attempting this camping thing again!! During our relaxing week we also squeezed in a show in London's west End to make up for the disappointing Chicago show. It was called Shall We Dance with the ex-principal of the Royal Ballet. It was great fun. Chris headed back into London to have an RPA catch up in Kings Cross. We also caught up with our friends Nat & Glyn at the Camden markets and then headed to Westminter Abbey, Big Ben and Downing Street. We also did a bit of celebrity spotting, following Amy Winehouse through Camden market. It was great to see close friends from home again, and share some tips on Africa before they headed off for their 12 month adventure!! On the Saturday we headed back into London again (it is a great city to explore - I feel like a local) with Rose & Louise to enjoy some Indian on brick lane. With hundreds of restaurants to choose from thank goodnees for Time Out recommendation we had a great feed!! Goodbye Britain until the next time!!
