Touching down on the Tarmac at Changi airport at 8.52 am. We were pretty tired.... Losing 23 hours in the air including time differences. Going through customs was slow but i finally got my first stamp in my passport. :). Our bags were waiting on the carousel when we arrived so straight out to the taxi rank where we queued for our turn. We were soon on our way to Beach road. The taxi driver spoke very good English and was very helpful showing us a few of the sights on our way. We paid 26 dollars for the taxi, & he brought us right outside 'The Pod - Boutique Capsule Hotel'. The suitcases were taken upstairs and we then checked in.... Our room was not going to be ready until 3pm so had 5 hours to kill around the city. This didn't feel good considering the jet lag was already setting in. They let us go through and use the washing facilities and we changed our clothes which felt a lot better.
We decided to go to the Marina bay gardens & got the MRT to get there, which cost $5.80 return for the both of us. We walked up the Olympic path towards the spectacle of Singapore, Marina Bay Sands Hotel (with it's boat shaped roof)...A-mazing!! We took the lift to the 5th floor & followed the passage through to the gardens, where we spent a couple of hours ...The heat was almost unbearable!!!
At around 1pm we headed back towards the hotel...stopped off in Starbucks for some lunch and waited for 3pm to arrive!
3pm ~ We sorted our room out & slept for an hour (& not any longer, so we could try and adjust to the time difference)! Accommodation is brilliant for the money.... Very clean, secure and staff are brilliant. :). At 16:30, decided to freshen up & walk to Raffles Hotel!! We sat in the Long Bar all evening, & had two Singapore Sling cocktails!! Shelling monkey nuts and throwing them on the floor is a tradition and I definitely had my money's worth even though they were free. After a few more cocktails.... Too many, and a 200 dollar bill, we walked back to the hotel and got straight in to our Pod! The alarm was set for 7am, ready for our day @ Singapore Zoo in the morning. Singapore...WOW...what a city!!
