Yep we are in New York New York and that's the view of Times Square from our hotel room tonight. We got up early this morning and took a cab to Union Station where we boarded an Amtrak train to New York City. The trip took 3 1/2 hours, there was wifi on board so we spent the trip marking off on a map all the places we want to eat and visit whilst in the big apple. We walked from Penn Station up to our hotel which is literally on Times Square and as we checked in we came across a woman who we had chatted to on the train. She either was part of the management or a very well known customer as she told the hotel staff to upgrade us, and they did! So we are on the 29th floor with a great view. Our room is a suite so we have a bedroom and living area and bathroom and all is really nice and clean with hot showers, unlike the last hotel where hot water was scarce. After we checked in we went for a run up to central park and around one of the lakes, it's pretty damn cold here, not many people hanging out in the park. We had hot showers then walked up to famous Carnegie Deli where we shared a Reubin sandwich which was ridiculously massive but really tasty. Next we jumped on the subway down to Century 21 which was pretty crap, the cruised around SoHo and TriBeCa shopping and trying not to freeze. We stopped in at a little bar and had a local Brooklyn Lager which was quite good. We then jumped back on the subway back to times square, checked out Toys R Us and grabbed some quick street/take away food then crashed. All ready for some big playing days in NYC coming up whoo hoo!
