We loved Chiang Mai. The river, the old town the new town & THE FOOD! We ate and ate and ate. This was the first chilling section of our trip. We stayed in a lovely guest house with a beautiful garden. Again the staff loved us. I dont think they get many black people so we were a bit of novalty every where we went.
We went to see a few temples which were nice. A monk even let us take his picture! The Sunday market was amazing, stall everywhere. In the street and even the temple grounds. I know I keep talking aboiut food but the little omlette thingys we had were soo good.
Our favouite restaurant was House, followed by Riverside and the Good View. We saw a sign at the Riverside saying live jazz band. So we went back that evening to listen to a bit of Jazz. What we got was actually a young Thai band (with indie hair cuts) signing covers of a wide range of artists. The funniest song was that Macey Grey song that goes “i tried to say goodbye & I choke” their accents were killing us! It was crazy all the Thais loved it they were signing along.
I went to Chiang Mai cooking school for a day. It was soo good. I made loads of dishes I hope I can remember how when I get home.
Most people go to Chiang Mai to do treking and all that energetic stuff we didnt do that we just chilled!!
