Another class filled day is winding down in KBC (Kilimanjaro Bush Camp). This morning I joined Daniel and some of the other students for a morning nature walk. After sleeping through the last walk I was excited to get up early and be productive. Well, today was our day! We found a bush with 4 Bush Babies in it, spotted 2 large Eagle Owls, Passed under a Skyes Monkey in an Acacia tree, and the best of all: we observed a troop of baboons! The baboons weren't quite as excited to see us. As we stood along the bank of the river that runs behind our camp and watched the baboons they slowly spread out into all the trees surrounding us. The large male then gave us some loud, deep warning calls. So we decided to call it a morning and high tail it out of there since baboons have been known to get in your face if they feel threatened. This afternoon we had our third Swahili lesson. It's getting a little complicated, but the good thing is I have 33 other students to practice with. Despite the routine day everyone is really excited because tomorrow is our first Non-Program Day! We're going to caravan to Loitoktok (sp?) to visit the market and bar there. We also are going for a hike down into a gorge tomorrow morning. Once again it should be a nice trip away from camp for awhile!
