Made it to Siem Riap yesterday. Long bus ride, but beautiful country side.
We rose early this morning, 4:30am to be exact, it was so dark, no moon. We stumbled our way through the dark and perched ourselves on what I thought was a rock.
When the sun rose we had the best seats in the house, (see my picky attached) of Angkor Wat , and we were even sitting on a temple!!
Was so beautiful. Because of the haze, the sun was a rosy red colour and came up directly behind the temples.
Angkor Wat is a three story temple made of sandstone. The entire structure is simply block on block, there is no mortor. The surrounding moat is the key to the temple's structure. If the moat dries up the temple will shift and fall down!
