Hi everyone, sorry it has taken me such a while to write! This is actually my third time of writing this-the computer froze as i tried to upload it the first time and then it only saved half of it! Anyway, its my last day in Perth today, I am flying up to Broome this evening, which I'm really excited about- it'll be nice to settle there for a while and unpack properly so i don't have to rummage through my backpack for hours everytime i need something! Perth's been really nice- its meant to be their winter, but it was 29 degrees yest! Sunday and Monday nights were spent at the YHA Hostel. It was nice and clean and in the city centre, but quiet and not much happening when travelling alone so I moved to the Billabong for Tueday and Wednesday nights. This has been a lot better, its in Northbridge, the trendier part of town with all the cafes, bars etc and has been a lot more fun and easier to meet people. I spent Monday wandering round the city and up into Kings Park, where there are tree top walkways and a water garden - v.picturesque! and good views of Perth. Waiting to watch the sunset meant that by the time I got back the local shop was shut so I had to settle for beans on toast for dinner! On Tuesday I went to Fremantle, a fishing harbour town about 30 mins from perth city. Here I found a place called 'little creatures' (which i think faye may have mentioned to some of you). It was a big shed in which they brewed beer. Was very cool and the terrace and restaurant out the back next to the harbour provided the perfect place to enjoy a couple of glasses of their finest. Dinner was fish n chips on the beach! Great! Yesterday I headed to Cottesloe Beach. If all Australian Beaches are like this I will not be dissapointed; soft white sand, bright blue sea, sun blazing and an ice-cream shop! Evenings have been spent oustide by the pool chatting with people and last night we went out for dinner and to a bar to watch a live band. Food and drink are very expensive here; a bottle of coke from the shop is two pounds and half a beer is about the same (if you're lucky). This means that i'm prob eating less than at home (def a good thing after all the cakes and chocolate i devoured working in MX!). People are very sporty here too-joggers everywhere and people doing circuit training in the parks. Lazing the day away on the beach made me feel a little guilty, so up i got for a jog - the guilt soon passed though and i was back lying down soaking up the rays (smothered in factor 30 you'll be pleased to hear faye!) Anyway I'm not sure how much internet time i have left now, so best be off. Hope i haven't bored you all too much..i'm sure on the first writing of this blog i had far more witty anecdotes to tell (!), but third time of writing the blog entry is a little shorter! For some reason the USB thnigys on the computer i'm using here won't work, so i'll upload my photos when i reach broome tonight - i'll pic out the best ones for you coz i've taken hundreds already! Thanks to people who've messaged me-its nice to hear from you, so keep them coming. Will write again soon, Laura xxx
