So here I am again, It's says from Pulau Pankor but really i'm in that grotty hole again but I'm goona write about my adventure on Pankor! Oh and this picture isn't of Pankor..... It was nice but not that nice!!!!
Pankor is a beautiful Island off the western coast of Malaysia it's a quite place with not alot to do really expect eat and hit the beach, well that is untill the weekend arrives then the Island comes to life when the locals from the mainland flood the island in their masses and keep everyone else awake with their dreadful Karoke...... If it wasn't bad enough them destroying songs in English they did the Malay ones too.
Like I said there really wasn't a great deal to do there and as I fell asleep on the beach my first day and serverly burt my back I spent most of my time moping aroung feeling sorry for myself.. Didn't want to go out coz all I wanted to do was lay on my bed with no top on coz it hurt to have anything touching my skin.... Silly girl I am I'll try my best to make sure I don't fall asleep again in a hurry.
Malaysia isn't really a great place to be traveling by yourself, not because it's unsafe or anything but it is such a lonely place not many women come here on their own and meeting other solo travelers is hard so I've had a bit of a hard time this week. don't get me wrong I don't actually mind my own company but EVERYDAY........ come on
So I'm now back in the "great" city of Kuala Lumpur......... I promise this will be the last you hear of this place but I have actually quite enjoyed today!!! Might be a day earlier than planned because I got a bit confused with my days but nevermind... Have been a proper tourist today, got up early to get to the Patrona Towers to get a ticket to goto the viewing deck, they only issue 1400 per day and it's first come first served I got there at 9AM and it was packed with people waiting to get tickets and they only opened at 830 anyways bagged one for 630 which ent I was free to do whatever I wanted all day then go back later! Only problem being it takes 30 minutes each way, not that i'm lasy or anything it's just alot to do in this heat it's really close and muggy.
So took myself off to the Batu Caves had to catch a bus out there but at least I was out of the city. The Batu Caves are a place of worship and pilgrmage for Hindu's with shrines to various gods. Was pretty intersting even the steep climb of 230 steps to reach the top..... who needs the gym when you have the Batu Caves??? You had to battle with slow paced walkers and dreaded monkeys. I was walking up and tihs monkey came from nowhere and took off with this womans bag! Not her handbag or anything like that but she had bought some flowers to give as an offering at the shrine only the monkey say and ate them!!!
Coming back down was quite fun monkeys everwhere and the look quite vicious.... The stairs were steep and all I could think about was not falling down them because you all know it is something i'm more than capable of. So i'm carrying this bottle of water and i just expected a monkey to come from nowhere and not necesserly take it but knock me off balance and I tumble down the stairs. So I paniked a bit and these men that were on their way up say that I was a bit scared and kinda shielded me down the rest of the stairs................. One good thing about a woman you can play the damsel in destress card anytime :-)
Made it back from the caves in plenty of time to have an afternoon nap, all that walking has tired me out today. Had a lovely treat of coffee and cake..... yep given up on the tea!!! then it was time to set off to the Patronas Towers....... Another longggggggggggggggggggggggggg walk. Had to linger around for a while coz i was early but there is a great AIR CONDITIONED shopping Center under the towers so time actually passed rater quickly.
Now you might call me sad or even strange but i've never watched anything in 3D before so before we went to the qiewing platform we watched a short film about the towers in 3D had to wear geeky glasses but it was quite sureal, things jumping out of the screen and all that. Eventually we were alowed to get in the lift and the view was pretty amazing, there are photos but I will upload them soon I guess. If you have facebook you can see them on there!
Have learnt another valuable lesson today, don't know why I haven't learnt it before but you know me it sometimes takes a few times for it to eventually sink in :-).................... Don't get excited about things, well not too much anyway... I've been trying to find this Tandori chicken place since I first came here last week and I found it this morning so all day I have been soooooo looking forward to having chicken with rice and nann bread mmmmmmmmmmm WHAT A DISAPOINTMENT!!! I got chicken legs with very little chicken, cold rice that looks as though it was weeks old and as for my nann bread I honestly can't comment because I never got it :-( Think i'm either gonna go see the noodle lady that has fed me each night i've been here or do the un thinkable and head to Mc Donalds for Ice Cream tough call!!
So now that will be the last of the complaing coz i'm flying out to Bali tomorrow :-) going to get drunk with unruly Ozzies.... Should have just gone straight to OZ but never mind at leat i'm getting mtsekf that little bit closer to the promised land
So if you don't hear from me in Bali i'll be back when I get to Perth
Adios amigos
