aunty kaff abroad
We walked over to the base of St Christopher's hill/mountain to catch the funicular to the top to see the statue of Mary that keeps watch over Santiago but it wasn't going to open til 1pm so we walked. We met a lovely guy in the piety-type stall, some sydney world youth day pilgrims had left him a few souvenirs so he was very friendly and positive to Australians. Now we are sitting here staring peacefully out wondering what to do next...
So we walked back down the 300 odd metres and did a little browsing through the city, an afternoon coffee and out for dinner. Farewell Santiago, hopefully my Spanish will be better next time we meet.
