Vegas, home of very late nights, the best shows on earth... and well, just forget getting any sleep! We were lucky enough to get to go to Vegas twice, once in March for Greg's work and once in April for mine.
The first time Greg had to work, so I hung out with friends. We stayed at Mandalay bay, and there's a big fish tank in the middle of the lobby. Fish tank probably doesn't even describe it well. It like a gigantic beam that holds the building up, except its glass and has giant fish inside it.
We went to a really yummy restaurant in the hotel, and I ordered a lobster roll. It was sooo good. I just remember my waitress wanting to take it away and I asked if she could leave it longer so I could just look at it! So yummy!
That night I went to see Michael Jackson One by Cirque de Soilel. Anything cirque de soilel is usually amazing. It just gets to the point where you are comparing amazingness and wondering why one particular show wasn't of the utmost amazingness. Then I realized how ridiculous that was (particularly after seeing a knock off show at home... gave me whole new appreciation for what they do!). Michael Jackson One is great, particularly if you are a fan. I was a so-so fan, so I knew like half the songs. They did one of those hollagram things where it looks like Michael's on the stage, and all the "real" people dance around him. It was super erie. It felt like he was there, and if there is a Michael Jackson spirit walking around somewhere, he was at his cirque de soilel show that night.
Angie wanted to walk around to see all the different casinos, which was a great idea because I hadn't seen most of them. We saw the aquarium, which was really neat. We gambled at the slots for a little. Angie insisted on walking around until she got a "vibe" and sure enough, Dolly Parton's slot machine had a good vibe and she doubled her money!
We saw the bellagio fountains, actually saw them twice! Saw the gardens at Bellagio, they had a butterfly garden and garden bugs and animals made out of flowers. Just picture a giant lady bug made of flowers!
The inside of the Wynn is really pretty too, it has a tree garden of lights and big hanging balloons made of flowers. Angie says all hotels have their own unique smell. Mandalay smells like a the beach/ocean. Bellagio smells like flowers. The Wynn smells like perfume and Ceasars has another smell, which I can't remember...
The second time in Vegas we stayed at the Encore, which is attached to the Wynn. The rooms there are really nice, the view was nicer than what we had at Mandalay too (more scenic anyway). Most of my time on this event was spent at awards events (sounds exciting, although it tends to be rather dull after awhile). Made some new Robert Half friends, like Gina from Texas who seemed to be my long lost twin of everything. Everything we said, we had in common and it was bizarre! We both play poker, both love Express clothing, liked all the same foods.. she is definitely my sister in another life!
Greg hung out with husbands, and they played poker... so very exciting! We went to see a Penn & Teller show, which was interesting. We watched Penn on Celebrity Apprentice and so we were fans. Teller doesn't say much of anything, its all craziness at the show. They definitely have a gene for creativity. Its all magic show stuff that we hadn't seen before, so no copy-cat stuff.
After leaving, we had enough no sleeping and decided to sleep on the flight. That ended up not working out because our flight was REALLY bumpy the entire way. Needless to say, I didn't sleep much however I had a lot of fun both times we were there.
I'm so not a crazy person, so what happens in Vegas stays in Vegas mostly because I was in a half trance from not sleeping half the time! The other half was fun, and I am definitely Vegas'ed out for awhile!
