Hey people, sorry its been a week or so sincethe last entry, but i´ve been busy sunbathing on a yacht and on incredibly nice beaches in the Galapagos Islands :-)....
Had the most amazing time there, was delayed by a day due to the Tsunami but the damage there was limited and nobody suffered too badly. Did a cruise on a yacht for 6 days and visited most of the Southern Galapagos Islands. LOts of amazing snorkelling spots, incredible beaches and loads of really good walks too. Saw all of the exotic animals and mammals you could hope for, Sea turds i mean turtles, sea lions in abundance (i´ve some wicked pics of me with some of them which i´ll post some other time - i think someone has posted a pic of me on the beach on Isla Santa Fe in the Galapagos so some of you´ll be able to get an idea of the hardships i have to go through!!) big Iguanas by the thousand and tonnes of pretty looking fish with the odd hammerhead shark thrown in there too!!!!!!!!!
The cruising itself was cool, most of it was done overnight so didn´t notice it but was a great feeling being on the yacht - spent the last three nights sleeping on the top deck with some others, under the stars, with 25-30c heat and a gentle breeze. And several bottles of dark rum. And some limes. And some coke........loverly jubberly!!
Food onboard was great too and the crew were fantastic, as was our tour guide who knew everything about everything about the Galapagos. Daytime heat reached up to 38c so got a quality tan already hahahahaha ! ! !
Met some cool people too on the yacht (mainly a Dutch, a Norwegian and some Canadians) and some of us are gonna meet up in Peru to do the Macccchu Picccchu and for when i do my sandboarding in Ica, Peru, near to where the Nazca lines are. Am aiming to be there in 2 weekends time hopefully. Presently now in a place called RioBamba which is a town 4hrs and $3.75 south of Quito. From hear gonna bus it to Alausi to catch the Nariz del Diablo Ferrocarril (google it - it´ll be spectacular) then gonna go on down to Cuenca, a chill out place called Vilcabamba then gonna try sneak over the border to Peru hidden in a vegetable truck :-).
Everything else out here is just bloody great - stayed in Hostel Revolution in Quito several times ( highly recommended for you backpackers out there) owners Matt and John are a bloody laugh and their 600ml beers are only$1.50 (expensive for Ecuador ha ha ha). Food is bloody cheap - Almuerzas (google that too) $1.25 - $1.75, most mains in say a chinky restaurant are $2.5 - $3.5 and they´re MASSIVE. So all in all, when i´m back i will be black, very drunk and about 20stone in weight.
God bless you all, i have to go now as its time for a beer!
