This is the reason its taken me so long to update this blog . . . . . . . . i think the last time i did was in BA, Argentina, since where i've been to France over a month, Sydney, Brisbane, North Stradbroke Island and Melbourne.
Phnom Penh is phenomenal. The people here are so cool, the weather's great and all else is so cheap there are never any real money worries. The local food is tasty, the Guest House i'm in is sorted and it seems a heck of a lot less hassle travelling around here then it did when i was last here in 2004. Loads to do around here aswell as the historical sites and temples in and around the city. There are some great street markets, a massive selection of eateries and drinking holes, so much to see happening about the place with the local people . . . .
Spent a few days in the city, so far, and off to Siem Reap tonight. Visited the moving Killing Fields and S-21, walked around the main market areas, had a painful massage from a blindy and more importantly got absolutely hammered with my friend "Fruitcake". Twice. One night involving a noodle war, the other involving lots of cocktails in a car bar! ! ! !
So, the plan is Siem Reap for several days whilst taking in the sights of Angkor Wat, plus another night(s?) heavy international drinking, making our way over to Battambang to see the defunct coke factory and see if they left any freebies, travel on the death defyingly speedy Bamboo train, Sihanoukville to mash it up, do a cookery course, use the beaches, have another few party nights - possibly involving another noodle war - a few other bits and bobs along the way too.......
....will provide in depth commentary over the next few weeks about the above, most of it won't be sensible as, those who know me will understand this, i am not capable of being sensible :-)
Over and out from captain Geoff
