Eight new passengers joined us last evening and had an tour of the city and our official photosession outside the State Parliament before setting off for Jackson and the Grand Tetons. On the way we passd through Montpelier and thus travelled along the old Oregon Trail as well as part of the historic Mormon Trail.
We arrived in Jackson Hole once a hide out for infamous criminals like Butch Cassidy now an upmarket ski town. It stilll kept its old west image but did not look as convincing as Scottsdale. Because it was mid afternoon we had to while away 2 hours in the town. After Jackson Hole we took a photostop of theTetons. Rumour has it that the first non aboriginal persons to sight the Tetons were French Canadians who thought they were reminescent of womens breasts. It is called Jackson Hole because it is a 50 mile long valley - or flat "hole" in the mountains - that runs North and South along the eastern side of the Teton Mountain Range. Still in the high country at approx 2000 metres. The valley is glacial and about 100,000 years old.
