Well Rome wasnt built in a day but we sure saw everything we could in one day. Yesterday we arrived in Rome in the morning and went straight to the Vatican City. We waited in line for an hour but it was worth it. We walked through the Vatican Museum to the main attraction... the Sistine Chapel complete with Michaelangelos ceiling fresco. It was different from what I expected but amazing. We then headed to St Peters Sqaure and saw St Peters Basilca. We even saw the alter where only the pope can do mass which is directly above the tomb of St Peter. Also saw the tombs of some of past popes. Pretty cool. In the arvo we did a walking tour which included the Pantheon, Piazza Novona,. Trevi Fountain and many of Berninis statues. We also saw the Spanish Steps and catacombes of monk bones. I also made nmy wishes at the Trevi Fountain. After a full on day we headed home. This morning we had an early start for a our walking tour around the Colloseum and Roman Forum. The Roman Forum is basically the ancient ruins of where the Roman Empire began and was centred. Its crazy to think it is thousands of years old. Temples and columns including the temple of Julius Cesear. After that we headed into the Colloseum which really was spectacular. Its absolutely massive. One thing about Italy is there are gypsies and scammers everywhere. They are so persistent too. They sell prints, fake designer handbags and sunnies. As soon as a cop comes nearby they flee with their goods. There are also cigarette butts everywhere!!"! Its quite gross. Actually got to have a rest this arvo for this first time in a long time. Well heading to dinner soon. Plus my internet time is about to run out... 3.50 euro for one hour!!! Drinks are like 8 aussie dollars which is crazy. Anyway heading to Pompeii tomorrow then to catch the ferry to Corfu Greece... HOORAY!! Well arrivedeci!
