Welcome to my Fiji blog! From now and on - be prepared that I won't be writing a long blog like I did before in different country, as in Fiji I will be mostly be relaxing, sunbathing, reading my book etc - there will be not much things to say on each blog. Today as we entered the Airport lounge area where people would welcome us. Everyone was saying 'Bula' and on other side there was crowd with Fijian people giving out real flower necklace as a little welcome gift from Fiji. Everyone was so ever friendly! One lady approach to us and knew we was deaf, they led us to the office to sort out the paper work etc. As we planned to stay at Nadi for one night then go to Beachouse tomorrow for 8 nights. The Nadi Bay hotel agreed to pay us taxi to there. Outside, every cars parked, driving past was lot of old cars, the road is uneven, lots of potholes - it was clear to us that it a poor country. We arrived at the hotel, it was quite nice and very very tropical, plenty of bamboos beams and posts building with old palm trees leaves thatched on the roof. We went out and walked around for awhile to see what is outside. Every single Fijian walked past to us said 'Bula' - it's Fiji language of 'Hello'. As the Beachouse website warned us that we should withdraw our money before coming Beachouse as there will be absolutely no shops or any ATM around there, just cafe and bar. We came back for our dinner at 7pm. As we sat down the host gave us a freezing cold towel to cool ourselves before eating. They also gave a small flower to Sara and Charlene to put on their ears. It was their interesting culture! We tried out Fiji Gold Beer and it was not too bad, however better than what we expected. We enjoyed the evening chatting away, relaxing.
