We arrived in Bangkok after a very bumpy flight from Dubai to Bangkok. Our flight to Dubai was ok and it went quite quick but the second one dragged!
Anyway...we arrived ok. The hotel is simple but nice and staff are lovely, carrying our very heavy suitcases up to the third floor for us..bless them! We grabbed something to eat from Tesco...yes Tesco! and got an early night seen as we'd had very VERY little sleep in 48 hours.
In the morning we decided to go to MBK which is a big shopping mall after a stewerdess reccommended it to us on the plane. It was huge! And very cheap...our Burger King meals (we decided to go for a traditional english dish) cost no more than £2 (large meal!) The 40 minute taxi journey to hear from our hotel only cost 230 Bahts which is about £5.50 so really cheap! After this, we got an open bike taxi thing to the palace. The palace (see the photo) is AMAZING and it's a must for anyone travelling to or near Bangkok. It's 350 Bahts for the tickets to get in. You have to cover up shoulders and knees and there are numerous other dress codes such as no tight pants or leggins so you can borrow clothes which consist of long skirts and over sized shirts to go in. There is one particular building where you also have to take shoes off. One tip, do not listen to anyone telling you that you cannot go in just walk where everyone else is going and on the right hand side there is a dressing room which is where you hire the clothes. You then carry on walking towards the big, gold buildings where you can purchase your tickets. It is honestly one of the most beautiful things i have ever seen. So these two places are a must! Later on there was a huge thunderstrom. The lightening was amazing!
Day two in Bangkok, we are sat in the little cafe waiting for our taxi to the airport. Our flight isn't until later. It is thundering again...it better hadn't be when we take off or i'll be so frightened! We are going to have our food now which apparently is really lovely. We are staying in thr airport hotel and it's really nice here.
