Travelling further south we made our way to Sorrento, stopping on the island of Capri on the way. We took the ferry to Capri and then back to Italy, into Sorrento. We were only in Sorrento for 1 night so most of us decided it was time for a quieter night.
Capri was amazing! Definitely one of the highlights so far! It was so hot and Phebe, Geoff, Gus, Mick, Giuls, Lizzie, Sarah & I hired a boat for the afternoon and went boating and swimming around the whole island!! The water there is so salty and warm that you float without even moving!! The island is really pretty and has some amazing houses on it! We ate lunch in one of the small restaurants before getting the ferry back to Italy.
Sorrento was nice; we didn't have as much time there so just had a look around town the one night we were there and then headed to Pompeii the next day.
We went into Sorrento that night for tea, we just went to the supermarket and got bread and made sandwiches, there was an amazing sunset that night so just made the most of it!
Having a guided walk around Pompeii definitely helped understand what everything was and what exactly happened. The ruins have been preserved so well and so much of the old town is still there to view. We were lucky our tour was in the morning before we headed to the east coast because it started to get so hot and there is no shelter or shade there! It is quite a touristy place though so heaps of people and buses!
